If I switch on the bookmarks toolbar, the bookmarks take up all of the left of the screen with a blank for the rest of the screen on the right of the bookmarks. On the last line of the same screen is the start of the current url's page. Unfortunately only one line of the web screen is showing and I can not scroll down to see the rest of the page as a whole.
I have disabled a number of addons in the hope that they were the cause. They were not. The ones I did not disable were those which I have had for a long time and have not given this type of problem.
Does anyone know the solution?

Try starting the browser in Mozilla Safe Mode. Just because an extension has been working doesn’t mean it can’t conflict with some new updated version of another extension.

Try changing your code in userChrome.css for multiple rows of bookmarks:
