Avast telling me about some porn site

Post by slickrcbd »

I keep getting this message from Avast about "Threat Secured. We've safely aborted connecton on slavemaker3.blogspot.com because it was infected with URL:Blacklist"
I think I once heard of this, and looking at the site it's an H-game.

Why am I suddenly getting pop-ups about it? I've checked for adware and nothing is showing up on scans with Malwarebytes or Avast free. I could try finding Ad Aware of Spybot if those are still around and useful.

In any case, did any of my addons get "updated" with spyware/adware/malware the way Stylish got "improved" and had to be replaced with Stylus?

If uninstalling Avast is the answer, then what free antivirus should I use instead?
I switched to Avast 2-3 years ago because AVG Free was starting to give lots of annoying pop-ups trying to upsell me into buying the premium version.
Now Avast is doing the same.
What free antivirus should I install in their place for my Windows 10 and Windows 7 computers?

Most of them are disabled, and some are replacements for obsolete ones that no longer work with current Firefox versions.
I lost 3/4 of my extensions in the switch from Firefox 56-57.
I had to find replacements.

With that many "disabled" extensions in your profile you could see problems because of settings that were changed by those extensions and never changed. You might find it helpful to create a new profile, install only the current version of those extensions you are currently using and then migrating user elements (passwords, bookmarks, etc.) from the old profile to the new.

(You would think ? a particular Quantum extension would only affect itself, & if the extension were disabled...)

That said, given the "quality" & "integrity" of Quantum extensions, it could very well be one of your enabled extensions...
Or it could be that Advast is rightfully blocking some rogue site that for whatever reason has found itself in your browser arena.

(Just earlier today, my brother, yells out, 'come here'. What's up? ... it was one of these 'your computer is infected... call 800-do-you-really-believe-we-can-help-well-i've-got-a-tail-to-tell-you'. I killed (IE, as it was, then said I didn't know anyone ran IE anymore ;-). That was it. Resolved.
