SPELLING CORRECTION

Post by wwe »

HI

I was wondering if SeaMonkey has a way to automatically correct spelling errors when typing e mails as my typing isn't the best and it would be great if such a thing exists.

Thanks

You wasn't looking for it, didn't you?

Menu -> Edit -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Spelling

So I'm actually trying to I guess you'd call it AUTO CORRECT the spelling when I type in SeaMonkey

My options when I go to APPEARANCE are:

When typing check my spelling - NEVER; in multiple boxes; All boxes

And then under MAIL & NEWSGROUPS
-check spelling before sending
- Check spelling as you type

Right now I have the two above checked and am in "All boxes"

So I just tried typing an e mail to myself and purposely messed up some words

So when I do that and try to send it I get a box with all kinds of options but that's a pain.

I have a Mac desktop computer and what I love about typing a text in iMESSAGE or MESSENGER is that it automatically usually 99% of the time corrects the spelling.

Is there a way that SEAMONKEY can do the same thing?

What dictionary are you using in SeaMonkey?

Edit > Preferences > Appearance > Spelling.

I have the "English/United States" dictionary installed.

There isn't any that will auto-correct words. You have to right-click the underlined word and select the correct spelling.

Not sure if you have an iPhone or iMac but of course iMessage is not 100% perfect but better than anything I've seen so far. Sure, you have to go over what you've typed here and there but overall somehow it seems to know what you mean!

Except for all the times it thinks it knows but puts something really bizarre in place of what you intended. I've had to switch it off.
