I don't know how many times i've accidently hit the Backspace key and been taken back to the previous web page. If I want to go back I'll use the back arrow.
Is there any way to disable Backspace and Shift+Backspace?

You can modify this pref on the about:config page and set its value to 2 to disable the backspace action.
* browser.backspace_action = 2
