uBlock Origin?

Post by Eakamai »

THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE (SeaMonkey 2.53.2)! :)
Initially noticing a big difference in many sites.

Can anyone confirm a working version, or better yet, the last working version of uBlock Origin for it?
It's acting kind of snarky with earlier 1.6x (yes, my bad, I should have been updating).
With the last SM version before this, that earlier uBlock worked for me.

But after updating to this newest release, it's acting snarky so I tried updating with no joy.

Thanks for any info!

Thanks Frank! :)

I just posted in 'General' when I found that post referring to ublock. Search didn't reveal that thread.
I was able to get 1.15.24 working from github. Not sure if there are any later versions that work.
I'll post back if I find any.

Duh.... that's the version I had. But somehow it was snarky in this newest SM release.
I'll reinstall and try to see what's up.

You guys are Awesome!

No problemo.

I'm using version 1.16.4.20 and it seems OK.

Don't forget though that you can use any version that works for you as it's the filter lists that are doing the heavy lifting and they don't change really from version to version.

What was the 'snarky' behaviour you had?

I also always suggest not reading release notes especially "Extensions (Add-ons) and Themes" where there is a link to the latest 1.16 version. Oh I see you already followed my suggestion so never mind.

How does one go about upgrading uBlock to a newer version?

Is there any reason for us to upgrade our uBlock to the new version 1.16.4.22?

Yes, always update security stuff.
If 'check for updates' in Extensions doesn't offer it just click on uBlock0_1.16.4.22.firefox-legacy.xpi at that github link, and install.

Thanks.

Surprise -- when I checked for updates it automatically updated uBlock...I was expecting the opportunity to give or not give permission.

So, I'm now updated.

of course, Peter.

new security and reliability bug fixes

but I manually update uBlock (meaning I download & install the new versions myself directly from github, not using the SM app to do it)

btw, v1.16.4.23 came out a few days ago

-edit - the 1.16.4.23 release also restores support for older Gecko 45-50 based browsers as noted

Thanks for the heads up on the new version. I just went and got it.

Curious...why do you NOT use the SM app for the updates?

I was wondering the same thing, FWIW, for all I know the update does this, but every uBO update I do go Filter Lists > Purge and Update.

Addons Manager checks https://addons.thunderbird.net for extension updates, but uBlock Origin isn't on that site, so...
