Like what topic subject says, but happened after update to 79.0. Previous version worked fine.

![]() Moving to Firefox Support as no specific bug has yet been identified here.
Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode I tried yesterday to experiment what might be the cause.
I made new profile and everything was fine. So I emptied current profile dir (copied to another location) and slowly started to move back dir after dir and file after file. Couldn't see what file causes the problem, because FF wouldn't load properly. But some file in FF profile root is causing that problem. Some of these files are causing the problem: addons.json addonStartup.json.lz4 AlternateServices.txt blocklist.xml broadcast-listeners.json cert_override.txt cert9.db compatibility.ini containers.json content-prefs.sqlite cookies.sqlite cookies.sqlite-shm cookies.sqlite-wal enumerate_devices.txt extension-preferences.json extensions.json extension-settings.json favicons.sqlite favicons.sqlite-shm favicons.sqlite-wal formhistory.sqlite handlers.json key4.db lightweighttheme-footer lightweighttheme-header logins.json parent.lock permissions.sqlite pkcs11.txt places.sqlite places.sqlite-shm places.sqlite-wal pluginreg.dat prefs.js protections.sqlite search.json.mozlz4 SecurityPreloadState.txt serviceworker.txt sessionCheckpoints.json shield-preference-experiments.json SiteSecurityServiceState.txt storage.sqlite storage-sync.sqlite Telemetry.FailedProfileLocks.txt times.json TRRBlacklist.txt webappsstore.sqlite webappsstore.sqlite-shm webappsstore.sqlite-wal xulstore.json I wil try tomorrow to remove file by file, to which one is causing it. It's a bit late today to do it. Stranges thing is, that even if I installed (overwritten) previous version 78.0.2, FF wouldn't let me start because message something like this "cannot start firefox because there is...something new...not for older version, start FF with new profile". So, it is impossible to revert back with old profile. Bit stupid I may say. i7 2600K@4.2, NH-U12S, ASUS P8P67 Pro V.3.1, 16GB HyperX Gray@1600, MSI GTX1060 6GB GamingX, Samsung SSD Pro 256GB, WD 1TB;3TB, CM 690 II Advanced/Seasonic 850W KM3, SoundBlaster ZX/Samsung HT-WS1G/AKG K92, ASUS 24B3ST, Logitech M705 / K270, X360 wireless gamepad, LG 42LF652V, Win 10 x64 Pro
![]() You would have been much better trying Safe Mode as I suggested. It might have been as simple a matter as an installed extension and not any of the original files of the Firefox profile.
Yes, As Dan mentioned, it's not a real need or should to be changing Firefox's files in your profile, unless you know what you are doing.
Not an extension, but some line/lines in prefs.js. I deleted several that might be the suspect, and it worked.
