This really more of an addons.thunderbird.net question than a Thunderbird question, but is there any way to search for extensions and only get results that support a specific version of Thunderbird (specifically 78.x.x)? I don't see any version filtering option on addons.thunderbird.net, and even in Thunderbird 78's UI, the recommended extensions screen will often show extensions that aren't compatible. Since the VAST majority of extensions don't support the current version, this makes sifting through search results to find something that works challenging. Is there an advanced search URL hack (e.g. appending something like "?minver=78" to the URL) that will filter results?

If Mozilla's own addons site doesn't have a filter-by-version capability, is there a third-party repository that does?

Thunderbird 78 Compatible

Recently Updated Extensions

Newest Extensions

P.S.

The min and max properties aren't mandatory in the manifest.json file.

Many developers don't use the max property so the site doesn't know how to sort by version I guess.

manifest.json strict_max_version

Try adding "&appver=78.0" to a search url. Some results may not be compatible with Thunderbird 78.

Here is how to create a bookmarklet to sort the id or name column on a ThunderKdB page.

* reload page to sort by users
* click bookmarklet once to sort by id
* click bookmarklet twice to sort by name

Code: Select all
javascript:(function () {
  var table = document.querySelector("table");
  if (table.getAttribute("data-sort") == "id") {
    table.setAttribute("data-sort", "name");
  } else {
    table.setAttribute("data-sort", "id");
  }
  var switching = true;
  while (switching) {
    switching = false;
    var rows = table.rows;
    for (var i = 1; i < rows.length - 1; i++) {
      var shouldSwitch = false;
      if (table.getAttribute("data-sort") == "id") {
        var m = rows[i + 0].getElementsByTagName("td")[1].textContent;
        var n = rows[i + 1].getElementsByTagName("td")[1].textContent;
        if (parseInt(m, 10) > parseInt(n, 10)) {
          shouldSwitch = true;
          break;
        }
      }
      if (table.getAttribute("data-sort") == "name") {
        var x = rows[i + 0].getElementsByTagName("td")[2].textContent;
        var y = rows[i + 1].getElementsByTagName("td")[2].textContent;
        if (x.toLowerCase() > y.toLowerCase()) {
          shouldSwitch = true;
          break;
        }
      }
    }
    if (shouldSwitch) {
      rows[i + 0].parentNode.insertBefore(rows[i + 1], rows[i + 0]);
      switching = true;
    }
  }
})();

The bookmarklet may fail on the "All Extensions" page. (script uses too much resources)
