Yes, it's working fine now, thanks for the heads-up!

In retrospect it may have been user error, you have to drag the new button to a position between the others, it won't drop to the left.

Confirmed in release candidate testing, but I had no problem installing the extension from ATN.

Yes, you are both right.

I am currently not developing the addon, because it is not clear, how it should work with classical XUL addons phased out in the next major release of Thunderbird. I am not even sure, that the message/header panes stay the way they are or if they are rewritten using HTML.

I have changed the settings on ATN, so the addon cannot be installed from within Thunderbird newer than 69.0a1.

If its not worth the effort to convert to a MailExtension or a web extension experiment due to the uncertainty/lack of information it would help if you made that more publicly known on either the tb-planning mailing list or the Add-on Developers topicbox.

I did post a message on the tb-planning mailing list, but at least from the core developers, there doesn't seem to be a large interest in doing anything about this. There was also no answer about any plans about the message headers in general.

Hi jmozmoz,

I have seen that you have successfully updated some of your other add-ons for TB78 using my WindowListener API. Is there anything I can do to support you in getting CompactHeader ready for TB78? I would love to see that live on!

Thanks for your contributions,
John

a working alternative for thunderbird 78 may be this https://addons.thunderbird.net/it/thund ... t-headers/
with this https://addons.thunderbird.net/it/thund ... customize/ for the icons.

Would love to see this functionality just get into the Thunderbird itself. Short of that, if this extension/addon can be made in English, that would be helpful also.

Same with the "Lookout" extension/addon.

Thanks.

Hello!

Xubuntu 20.04
Thunderbird 68.10.0
CompactHeader 3.0.0beta5

RSS-account in Thunderbird

RSS http://rss.dw.de/xml/rss-ru-news

Page from news-message:
When all headers of message open - I click link - and it opened in browser - OK.

When headers close (by this add-on) and I can see message-subject as link - I click link - and in browser see error 404 and in browser-address-bar I see:
I do something wrong or it is a bug?

Hello,
So it seems that for Thunderbird 78, we need to use Dillinger's extension.
And seeing his page on addons.thunderbird.net, it seems we have to wait for a little help provided to him to express himself in English (anybody speaking Italian and English here ?), and give some precisions about what can be waited from that extension.
That confirmation is needed, as upgrading to Thunderbird 78 is a heavy walk, for this is a no return journey, because of the automatic conversion of the profile.

You can get English version of webpage by just changing "it" to "en-US".
https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... t-headers/
(as well as for other languages; ex. "ja" for Japanese)

Oh, so it is just a bug of the website ?
Sorry, perhaps I should have verified that.
So, I have got to find the best place to signal it.
It is more than 20 years that I navigate on the web, and it is the first time that this malfunction happens to me (I just verified my list of languages in the options of Firefox). And it is on a Mozilla site.
Thank you for your answer.

Oh, let us keep attention.
I should be sleeping for a few hours, so I forgot there are two extensions with the same name.
Are you sure the address you give me there is about an extension that is compatible with Thunderbird 78 ?

Oh, sorry, I just had to click and see.
I definitely have to sleep now.
