Webroot Filtering Extension and Firefox

For about a year now the Webroot Filtering Extension won't come up when you open Firefox. You have to disable it and then re-enable to get it to appear. I've looked around and this is rather common. I would like to know is why. I haven't found anything on Firefox's or Webroot's sites saying that they are working on a solution to this.

Since the extension is the issue, the solution must also come from the extension author.
