Firefox 81 shows up as single line. [Linux.]

I am using Firefox in my old PC’s, Asus EeePC and Lenovo Q3000, with the OS Linux Mint 17.3 (equivalent to Ubuntu 14.04). The most recent version that I use successfully is version 80.0.3, after updating to version 81.0 I got following problem:
When restarted after update, Firefox 81.0 shows up as single horizontal line. The height can be adjusted though, but cannot fully cover the height of the screen. The most annoying is the width, even after adjustment, it is at least twice as wide as the width of the screen, i.e., I can only see mostly half of the webpage, It can be shifted left and right though. I tried the beta version 82.03b, the same result.
Does anyone have the same situation? If so any solution to overcome that problem?

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

Your Linux distribution provided that 81.0, or installed from Mozilla?

Does your system meet the System Requirements?

Also, there was no version 80.0.3 and Linux Mint 17.3 is past EOL so I doubt they provided 81.0.

The problem persist even with complete reinstall and new profile.
Sorry, it was typing error, the version I am using now (rolling back) is 80.0.1. It is fully functional and OK. BTW I have installed manually from Mozilla.
Additional information: The problem I described earlier in version 81.0 took place when the “Title Bar” is disabled. I saw it also in Linux Mint forum, but no solution yet other than enabling “Title Bar”, which is not to my taste.
Hopefully Mozilla can fix it soon.

But it still crashed when “Title Bar” is disabled under Linux Mint any version using XFCE desktop.
Hope someone from Developer Team reads this message, that he/she will be able to help fixing that bug.

But I have no problem with XFCE desktop until version 80.0.1, which I am still using now.
As such I believe it must be Firefox's bug. And I will stay with Firefox version 80.0.1

This OS Linux Mint 17.3 is no longer supported - EOL November 2014 and supported until April 2019.
There have been a large number of changes in graphics support in the Mint packages, it may be more of a system problem, even if it was a Mozilla manual install.

It is right, that Linux Mint 17.3 is not supported anymore. I still use it because it needs less resources suitable for my old PC's.
But some that use Linux Mint 18 are also experiencing the same problem, as can be seen in:

And the solution is for the time being: do not disable "Title Bar".

For Mint Mate 18 it looks like no one has updated to 4.15 kernels. Issues may lie in not updating properly
I've had no issues but will do a test or two to see.
My systems aren't as old as yours, 2013 and 2018 but I'll check.
No issue with Mint Mate 19.3, turning on and off the title bar
As an aside IMO it's still due to updates over the years.
I've kept a 17 on a drive which doesn't go on-line due to some functions I like so I can understand why you might keep it besides the l;ower strain on the system.

Tested on 18.2 Mate with 81. No issues.

However, as far as I know, the problem only takes place in Mint XFCE.
I am sad, but I will stay with FF 80.0.1 for the time being

This may be theme related.
Tried this with Linux Mint Mate 20 and some icons disappeared in the various bars.
You might try and see if a theme change could fix the issue.

Good news to share.
With version 83.0 my Firefox is back to normal.

I was too happy too early.
Unlike its predecessor version 81 and 82, version 83 can survive for a while before it finally also crashed.
Whereas version 81 and 82 crashed right away.
I am sad that I must roll back to version 80.0.1 now.
