Moving to MozillaZine Tech as this is not really a Thunderbird Support issue.

"Please tell me this will work within TB."

No, it won't. https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/email-s ... de-online/ states "Tutanota does not support IMAP/Pop3 because emails retrieved via IMAP/POP3 would be stored unencrypted on your device. Instead, Tutanota offers dedicated and open source desktop clients for Windows, Linux and Mac OS. "

However Protonmail is a similar email provider that provides software called ProtonMail Bridge that you can download and install to let it work with a email client via POP/IMAP/SMTP. The bridge software is only available to paying customers.

"ProtonMail offers nearly the same level of end-to-end encryption, though it does NOT encrypt email subject lines. What they must be given credit for is usability: enjoy conversation views, group sending, and Bond-style self-destructing emails for quick security. Your full-text searches are NOT encrypted, however."

FYI version 78.2 of Thunderbird is supposed to include the features of enigmail (OpenPGP based encryption) built-in as part of Thunderbird (no longer need to use an add-on). Whatever solution you chose I suggest you make certain that its still easy to send mail without being encrypted using OpenPGP as most users can't be bothered with the hassle, and that you have the option of saving a copy of a encrypted message on your hard disk as a unencrypted message.

I use tutanota! It only have online access to mail! But it also has the advantage that it is very safe.

Offline access is on the roadmap, but no timeline yet.

Right, the only way it's 100% safe is it you read or compose the e-mails via their webmail. That's what I've come to learn, although you can write up the e-mail (not with this one) in TB & the other person would need to read it on webmail unless they also had an end-to-end.

That's what I learned from either hush or runbox, I think it's called.
