I can't figure out bizarre mouse behavior.
I bought a new mouse and its interaction with the browser leaves me puzzled. Whenever I middle click on a YouTube video to open it up in a new tab, one of four outcomes will happen:
1. The action performs as desired and expected.
2. The video will pop up in Tab 2, but the main page (Tab 1) reloads.
3. The video will pop up in Tab 2, but a video from three or four viewing previous will load in Tab 1.
4. The video won't pop up in Tab 2 and a video from three or four viewing previous will load in Tab 1.
I've never had this issue, ever. I bought this mouse today and I've had all of this happen today. I've attempted to test various actions with the mouse to see if I'm performing acts that I'm otherwise unaware of, but I can't duplicate any of the results above. Any ideas?

Ok what make of mouse? Assuming it has a tilt wheel some of them are very sensitive and pretty much useless. What I do is use the mouse software to map the tilt functions back to middle click

It's a Logitech, model M325. I got it for $14 since Walmart apparently doesn't sell the $40 mice anymore. Yes, the scroll wheel tilts and I've used that in my experiments. As for the software, I don't know how to access it. I've gone to Control Panel to access the general mouse settings, but I don't know where to find the settings for the mouse's specific software. The wheel is so loose that, in all practicality, it free spins, which I don't like at all, and may be a contributing factor.
I'd ask why we can't test mice before buying them, but I suppose that's a topic for another website.

The best thing to install is the logitech options software then you can map all the functions one otherwise Windows will use the default MS drivers and they don't have all the functions.

How do I do that? The mouse didn't come with a disc.

That software is no good, unfortunately. My mouse is incompatible, despite my computer OS meeting the requirement for it.

On https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products ... 02651.html the support links to a similar page but links to Software Version: 8.20.329 as most current for the M325.

As I said, I've already been to the Microsoft settings and couldn't change anything there.malliz wrote:Hmm weird maybe try the microsoft settings

I've tried the second link. The software behaved identically, unable to detect the mouse.James wrote:On https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products ... 02651.html the support links to a similar page but links to Software Version: 8.20.329 as most current for the M325.

It's a laptop; there isn't a front USB port.

I've installed X-Mouse and have set the parameters. I'll update everyone to let you know how it turns out.

I disabled wheel tilting for X-Mouse, but I just had outcome #3 happen again.
