I have a Seamonkey email setup on this same computer but on another desktop. That desktop became corrupted and now I can't use it, so I've been trying to migrate everything to a new desktop.
I downloaded the latest Seamonkey, set up my mail and newsgroups, but used the wrong user name. The old one, which is connected to my gmail account, doesn't have my name but my gmail address as the user name. I can send emails - I just sent a test email, but I can't receive any because it keeps saying the user name is my name rather than my email. I already went and changed this on the email account settings, but it still insists that the user name is unchanged.
What do I do?
I have more questions after this one is fixed.
Thanks.

What is the exact text of the error message you are seeing when SeaMonkey fails to receive messages?
How is the account set up, as POP or IMAP? In SeaMonkey, the path is Edit->Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type".

It might help others who experience the same issue if you would post your solution to the problem.

I went to Edit: account settings: clicked on my user name at the top and changed it.
