How to disable msg checks and downloads for ALL accts?

Post by thoste »

I have setup multiple (6) POP3 accounts in my Thunderbird installation.

For each of them I enabled in "Server settings"
- Check for new messages at startup
- Check for new messages every 10 minutes
- Automatically download new messages

It works.

Now I want (for other testing purposes) to disable ALL messages checks and downloads for ALL accounts at once.
Temporarily nothing should be checked or downloaded.

Do I really have to untick all checkboxes in all accounts to achieve this?

I can imagine that there is a preference with higher priority which disables ALL checks and downloads
regardless of what has been specified in the "Server Settings" of each account.

Is this possible?

Other Internet access (browser) should continue to work

If the only accounts in your Thunderbird profile are set up as POP type accounts, you could launch TB in off-line mode. That would give you access to messages previously downloaded but prevent all checks for new messages.
You can achieve this by creating a new desktop shortcut that includes -p after the closing quotation mark: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -p. That will launch the profile manager where you can put a check mark in the "Launch offline" option. Using that shortcut to launch TB should accomplish what you want.
