It used to be that using the left arrow in the body of an email message would move the cursor back one character, including counting a blank line as a character.
Now it skips the blank line and actually moves to just behind the previous visual character.
I don't like this. I want it to work the old way. Anyone know how to get the old behavior back?

I assume you're talking about while composing a message. 78.7.1 still works the old way on my PC with both plain text and HTML messages. See if "help -> restart with add-ons disabled" has any effect.

Confirming that restart with add-ons disabled does NOT change the new, unwanted behavior.
