Date Visited in Search History File

I am trying to establish if I visited a website on 9/2/20.

Today I discovered a small box at the far right of my History file that revealed I had several categories unchecked. Does this mean that I may have no track of any dates I visited that site?

As far as I can tell, their name only shows up when I ran a DDG search for the URL.

Am I missing something else?

To what "History file" are you referring? How do you access it? (ie what menu path or location)

As we are presumably talking about the "History" display obtained by Ctrl-H, I just looked at mine in the 2.53.5b1pre nightly builds, and checked the "Columns Selector".
After turning "on" the "Most Recent Visit" col, I now see items with dates back as far as November 2013.
So, one might conclude that the data are being gathered whether or not you ask to see a given column.

Yes, I can confirm this as well. Even though I was not displaying the "Most Recent Visit" column, data was still there when I did turn on the view.

I'm going to assume that, as long as you didn't clear your browser history at some point, if you've visited a website, it would be recorded in the history log.

I had the date column visible recently.
How do you add it?

I am confused as to why there isn't a clear answer.

In the Library window (Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks or Ctrl+B). At the far right side of the header line (Name, Tags, Location, etc.) there is a small graphic (looks like a multi-column worksheet). Click on that to see the list of columns available for display. One of those columns is "Most recent visit". Click on that entry to add it to the display.

There used to be a column at the top where I could add DATE and it showed the actual date and time.

Most Recent Visit does show date and time if you use the History view.
