Pop up blocker

Post by 9fingers »

Hi,
I have one particular site that I need pop-ups to make it work.
Each time is visit I have to manually set to allow pop-ups and Seamonkey says they will always be shown but it forgets this once SM has been closed and re-started.
Is there a way to keep pop ups unblocked for this one URL please.

I'm using SeaMonkey 2.53.8
Platform: Windows x64 - Windows 10

Thanks
Bob

Right click page > Page Info > Permissions > Popup Windows.

Thanks for trying to help but for some reason that setting is not preserved when I reopen SeaMonkey in the same way as going to tools_popup manager and so on.

Any CLues?

Looks like something is wrong with your profile. Start with integrity check: Menu -> Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> scroll down to "Places Database" section and press "Verify Integrity" button -> wait for result and restart SeaMonkey (remember to close all SM windows).

Did it helped?

No I'm afraid it did not help
The verify integrity came up with a load of positive sounding things see below
But the problem persists.

It seems that you are correct that the problem is related to the profile.
On another machine and a default empty profile, the pop-up preference is retained OK however that profile has none of my setups, bookmarks, years of emails etc and I can't face starting again to build a new comprehensive profile on my everyday machine.

^^^ I know you can copy all of that into a new profile, but I honestly can't remember the steps. Question though is whether or not the problem will be copied as a result of some kind of setting or cookie.

Yes I've managed to replicate the problem by copying the profile to another machine.
The key question is what part of a profile can override/ prevent the storage of option setting? (and why !)

I've been using SeaMonkey for a decades or more since the demise of Netscape, so my profile has grown in that time and moved from versions of SM and numerous PCs

Your next step is to try SafeMode, in case it's a problematic extension, etc. - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
