User Help for Mozilla Thunderbird

I installed Thunderbird 91 on top of 78, running Windows 10.
I can't send any e-mails. When I click the button/hit Ctrl+Enter, nothing happens. It doesn't work to send them later neither.
When I want to close a draft and chose to save it, it keeps open.
I receive mails without any problem.
Any idea what could be wrong or where to start looking for errors?

So you can compose but not send. Is the Send button greyed out?
Save -> Draft is not supposed to close the compose message window. It just saves the draft. Use the close [X] widget in the upper right corner to close the window.
If I compose a message and press Ctrl+Enter I get a popup asking me if I'm ready to ready to send the message. If I just press Send it sends it, displaying the progress bar.
If you have more than one account try the others. Check that your smtp server entries haven't been trashed.
If all else fails run in safe mode (help ->troubleshoot mode) and see if one of your add-ons was the culprit.
When the email send fails, is the subject line greyed?
Is so, check preferences, composition, spelling.
Is no language shown? If so install a dictionary,
Thanks for your replies!
No, it's not greyed out.
That's where I tried to close it. After clicking a dialog opens and after selecting to save it, it still stays open.
Yeah, the popup can be deactivated in the options.
Did so, this solved the issue. Thanks!
There is a bug in 91.0. My addon, Limit non-BCC Recipients, does not work in the absence of a dictionary. Just having it enabled prevents emails being sent.
I suspect it also affects any addon using the onBeforeSend() addon API.
@halligalli222 - if you are NOT using my Limit non-BCC addon, please can you tell us what addons you use. It will probably be something that checks or changes sent messages.
The bug is actually in the spell checker; it's triggered by the lack of a dictionary. I think - but don't know - that only en-US versions include a dictionary. It certainly affects en-GB and German versions.
These are the installed (and active) Extensions:
-Manually sort folder
-Provider for CalDAV & CardDAV
-Provider for Google Calendar
I hope this information is useful.
@halligalli222 Thanks. I doubt if any of those use the onBeforeSend() addon API. But one or more of them probably causes the same symptom - mail won't send, subject greyed out - and have the same solution - install a dictionary.
Just upgraded to 91.2.0 (64-bit) for Mac OS 11.6 (20G165).
Send button is grayed out, with email address entered, with reply or compose, tried downloading additional dictionaries, turning off spell checking, restarting with extensions off, all with no luck.
Unable to send emails, but do receive them.
Any solutions? Been using Thunderbird for many years and never ran into this issue before.
Having the same problem over in viewtopic.php?f=39&t=3081073
and found some similar cases elsewhere on the web: https://www.spinics.net/linux/fedora/fe ... 09032.html and https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2461206
