Emails are not received at TB start

This is a bit weird!
My default email address uses mail.com and POP3. This has been in use for over 20 years. I have 2 other POP3 non-mail.com addresses. Recently I noticed that when Thunderbird loads the mail.com emails are not received until I click "Get Messages". The other non-mail.com emails are received as soon as Thunderbird loads. I have changed no settings in Thunderbird. There was a Thunderbird update on January 11th. Could this be the reason why default emails are not being received on start-up? Thanks for any help. FWIW: I've just installed an old version (91.4.1) and the issue is still there.
I.E. I have to click "Get Messages" to receive emails from mail.com. EDIT: BTW I've reported it to mail.com Close TB, delete session.json from the profile folder, see if TB checks at startup.
Thanks sfhowes, but it made no difference.
I closed TB, deleted session.json, reloaded TB. But had to click "Get Messages". The session.json file was recreated by TB. There's an older topic that suggests some other possible fixes:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1275606 Thanks again sfhowes.
I tried some of the suggested fixes with no luck. Didn't quite understand the one about user_pref("mail.account.account2.server", "server2") so didn't try that one. I'm surprised that the bug has been around for so long and not been completely solved. The puzzling thing is that TB has been working fine for me for years and suddenly hits this problem. Anyway, I'll just do the "Get Messages" and see if it gets solved. I'll report it here if/when it does. I’ve had a reply from mail.com.
Surprisingly it says that this problem is a known issue with mail.com and they will send me feedback when they receive it from the administrators. Mail.com emails have now started to be received at startup.
I've not yet had a confirmation from mail.com but I assume the issue had been resolved. I'll reply to this thread if I get a confirmation from mail.com. Mail.com have now confirmed that the issue has been resolved.
