Ver 2.53.15 - Strange Lag

Post by sunclad »

Version 2.53.15
Windows 10, 22H2 (current)

I have noticed an unusual lag in the UI recently.

If I get a link in an e-mail, click to view, and dwell on that site for a while, on return to the E-mail screen there is a rather unusual and sometimes random lag in the user interface. The mouse may stutter and contextual menus will be slow to display and slow to highlight menu items.

The fix for me is to close the program and relaunch it and this usually corrects this situation. I also have TB on the system for other things (business). I do not experience this with TB. SM is used for my personal home needs.

Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to have crept in with this last update of 2.53.

CPU load during that time?
And SeaMonkey CPU load during that time?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Try to free some RAM memory:

Using some add/script blocker is wise choice because it prevents some nasty tracking scripts to devour RAM like mad. E.g. uBlock Origin Legacy:

Just go to about:memory and click the 3 "Free Memory" buttons one at a time.

"Freeing memory" is not a fix.
At best, it may alleviate symptoms, for a moment (if that).

I use "Freeing memory" at least once a day...to a significant benefit for much longer than "a moment".
