... is available on http://pryan.org/firebird/daihard for download.

[NOTE] This build requires processors that support SSE; namely, Pentium III or higher.

It's the first time I use one of your optimized builds on Linux and I got visual glitches.
I've been using Mozilla and FB GTK2+XFT nightlies for months but never had this issue.
CPU is a Celeron II 1.3GHz (~ PIII Tualatin, SSE but no SSE2).
Probably -mcpu=pentium4 is too strong. Wonder if PIII owners have the same issue.

Thanks for testing my build. I am running it now on a PIII-500MHz machine (RH 8) and don't have that nasty visual glitch. Do you have it every time you visit MozillaZine, or does page refreshing get rid of the problem?

If you wish, I'd be happy to create a build with -mcpu=pentium3 and have you (kindly) test it.

I have a similar problem to this using your 8-19 build. I didin't know this was only found in your builds, so I posted it in some thread I found in General.

Anyway, my problem is with hotmail.com There's 2 bars, one is black, and one is white. I'm running onn a Pentium 4

Any idea what the problem could be? (I know this is the wrong build thread, but it's still sorta on topic)

edit: I'm running Mandrake 9.1 and KDE. Unlike wolruf, mozillazine works fine with me.

Perhaps I should have tried out an official build before optimized unofficial ones. I;m new to this linux game.

Hmmm... I wonder what can be wrong? Both hotmail and mozillazine work fine for me. What version of glibc does your Mandrake have? I may also need to produce a less aggressively optimized build to see if any of the optimization is causing the problem.

Just FYI, my graphics card is a GeForce FX 5200. I use the GeForce driver provided by nVidia.

Thanks! My RH 8 uses glibc 2.3.1 and doesn't exhibit that problem. My suspicion is the version of XFree. I will check.

I emerged firebird from cvs last night (on gentoo) and I am missing the scroll bar. Any tip to get it back ?

Are you using a theme? Try the default one, that should work.
Btw, wrong thread ;)

I was wondering about that, too. :) Right now, only the default and Bluemonkey themes seem to work correctly with the current (2003-08-19 and newer) nightlies.

Same sort of visual problems here on Slackware 9.0. I'm using a mobile Celeron 800 Mhz.

I've been getting reports from other people about those visual problems, too. Do you have any particular site that reproduces the problem easily? Just FYI, I have XFree86 4.2.1, glibc 2.2.5 and GeForce FX 5200.

Thanks,

I have place two new builds on http://pryan.org/firebird/daihard for download. One of them is my "standard," P4/SSE build (MozillaFirebird-i686-pc-linux-gnu323.2003-08-23.tar.bz2). The other one has the optimization for SSE taken out (MozillaFirebird-i686-pc-linux-gnu323-nosse.2003-08-23.tar.bz2). If you could try either build to see if you can still reproduce the problem, I would much appreciate it. (Note: The latter also uses a less aggressive optimization, -O2, instead of -O3.)

This one works fine for me, no visual glitches (Celeron II 1.3GHz, glibc 2.3.1, XFree 4.3, i815, mke 9.1).
Don't know if this is because of SSE or -O2/-O3. A third build would be useful. :)

Thanks much for testing! So the non-SSE build works fine... I will create one with -O3 but no SSE and post it on the Web site ASAP.
