Hm. That's probably what I'd do. Sometimes these nightlies can wreak havoc in the profile folder.

I compile all with -O3, and I use altivec and auto-vectorization where applicable, and that's it. I played with lots of other options when I started, but I've found those to be good enough.

Had some trouble building for 08.02, seems to be rectified today.

How do you know which to use 7400 or 7450? I just acquired a TiBook 550MHz, I think that it has a 7440 chip (not sure).

You'll have a 7400 compatible.

http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/p ... index.html

or, if you're really into understanding it:

I won't pretend to understand the nature of the whole thing, but 7450, 7455, 7457, 7447/a are the ones that get benefit from the "7450" gcc option and 7410 and 7440 gain with the "7400" option. Your Ti 550 does have a 7440, so you'll want the 7400 version.

Methinks. :)

All 744x CPUs are members of the 7450 architecture. 744x is the same as 745x without the provision for level 3 cache. 7440 users will benefit more when code is tuned for 7450.

This post used to be a duplicate of the one above it, but now it's just a useless piece of nothing.

LOL! :)

Thanks. 7450 optimization it is then...

Offtopic: Man, there is such a big difference going from a PMG5 dual 2GHz to a TiBookG4 550MHz. But I can't complain since it is a free hand-me-down. I only have to pay to upgrade the RAM from 256MB to 768MB!

Ontopic: elfurbe, you might want to put up a FAQ about which of your builds on which machines...

I bow to your authority, mento.

As to the FAQ, that's not a bad plan. Maybe I'll add a bit to the webpage explaining which builds go with which machines.

The first triumph of my totally automated build system! Getting the cron to work was a pain, but last night it kicked up the jams. Viva el cron!

So, hopefully, you (that's an all-inclusive you representing anyone who would want to download my builds) can expect regular nightly updates, rather than the sporadically timed builds I've been performing.

Added an FAQ and my mozconfig to my top post. Hopefully it answers the questions properly.
