HTML format

Can someone suggest why an email such as the following is not being properly displayed. It shows as below, instead of being properly formatted.

You have to look at the headers in the message source and check the message Content-Type. It should be text/html.

the content type is: multipart/alternative; boundary="1124800829077.MimeBoundarY"

Is there a setting that will enable this type to be properly recognised?

I have just had another email and this too is not properly formatted. The content type is:

text/html; charset="iso-8859-1"

Any suggestions as to how to correct this problem?

If a message is a multipart/alternative message, Thunderbird always displays the last recognized content type. In most cases the plain text alternative is placed at the top of the message and the last one is the html version of the mail.

Without a look at the actual message it is very hard to suggest anything. If you want me to have a look at it, send the message source of the message in a Private Message to me. Include the source code in a

Code: Select all

[code][/code]

block.

In the course of sending you the code I looked at the drop down menu view and clicked view message body as original html. It has now reverted to showing the correct format.

Incidentally I had some phishing relating to pay pal. I could clearly see that the paypal link had an address on the end of it in Russia. That would not have been apparent if I was viewing it in the Original HTML. Its a pitty that the could not be a combination of the two. I wounder if it the programmers could show all redirects in code as well as clickability.

Anyway thanks for your offer of support. I have not sent you the actual message because I hope it is now corrected.

Robin, You can check the link if the message is in html. I have TB set to View>Status Bar. When you move the curser over the link, the address will show in the lower left.

I have it set that way as well, but I seldom analyse it. That is why I suggested a warning is needed. I posted a suggestion in the improvements wanted conference, but so far no one has commented.

Good idea, maybe as an extension.... I don't really analyze it, but giving it a glance is useful. I also couple it with the Spoofstick extension in Firefox (also available for IE). Search the extensions area for it. It's quite useful.
