How to install MICROSOFT XML CORE SERVICES (MSXML) to FF?

Post by mati »

Is there any way to install MICROSOFT XML CORE SERVICES (MSXML) 3.0 as a plugin or extension to Firefox? I want to view a xml based web site in Firefox.

Can you give an example of a xml based website that can't be seen with Firefox?

Those words you see in the middle should be links. Try opening this site in IE to see the difference.

Holy character set, Batman!

That ain't XML. That's messy HTML with a chunk of what looks like XML thrown in the middle. You can't just go throwing chunks of XML-looking stuff in the middle of HTML. That doesn't make it XML, that just makes it very invalid HTML.

Either way, I don't think there could be a way to install something like MSXML into firefox. I mean, some developer might be able to write something that mimics it and make that part of a Firefox plugin or something, but it would be more trouble than it's worth. You can already do everything in Firefox that MSXML can do (pretty much) according to standards and with valid code.

The author of the website could take a look at XML Data Islands in Mozilla, which should work in other browsers, too. Of course, that doesn't make it more valid, but it might actually make it work.

The horrible coding of the site is the problem here, nothing else. And nothing will help except contacting the web'master' about this. Show him these links:
