I didn't mention it because I didn't know of its existence. ;)

Really? I though everyone would have played around in their tree enough to find that ;) How could you not know what's in your tree?

BTW, I like that the codebase is called a tree :)

I didn't even know the file was part of the tree until you mentioned it above.

It's a pretty standard naming convention. Our team at work calls our product codebase the "tree," too. :)

How big will the download be the first time I download the source via CVS?

For Linux, the source file directory is about 297 MB.

Yikes. I guess my dream of using my own FB build just went down the drain. My 56k connection can't handle 300megs in a reasonable amount of time.

Zipped by using bzip2, the entire source tree can be packed to a bit less than 30 MB. If you'd like to try it, I can put the least (zipped) tree on my Web site so you can download it. (My build script automatically archives the tree by bzip2'ing it every time, so don't worry about me making an extra effort for you.)

Thanks for the offer, dai. However, I think a source tarball will be released along with 0.7, so I'll just wait for that.

I might take you up on that offer at a later time though, if you don't mind. :)

I don't mind at all. Just let me know. :)

You can get the bzipped tarball of the tree - 25.1 Megs - here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-source.tar.bz2. It's updated nightly.

I wish I would have thought of using that when I first got my tree. I downloaded the whole damn thing over CVS @ 52.0 kbps.

Hehe... his site is getting popular. I have a link to it on my own Firebird web site, too. :)

It's good stuff. I couldn't access it today, so I went Google-cache digging...

Just FYI I am working on a tutorial to build Firebird using VS.NET (7.1), and once I have all of the details ironed out I will post a link.
