Our first 0.3 release candidate build is now ready for testing. I could really use everyone's help on getting a lot of testing coverage very quickly with this build.
You can find the bits here:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/ ... 09-23-1.5/
This build came from the newly created THUNDERBIRD_0_3_BRANCH for those of you building at home. This branch sprung from the Mozilla 1.5 branch. My hope is to ship 0.3 at the same time Mozilla declares final 1.5 bits. Thus, we all ship together.
0.3 contains all of the goodness found in Mozilla 1.5, plus some mozilla trunk specific fixes which account for a *huge* performance win in IMAP among other things. You can look at my Trunk Tracking Bug for a list of fixes from the trunk which I explicitly took for 0.3. Please don't add new bugs to that list though , go through me to get things added.
Recent changes from last week:
1) I took David Bienvenu's fix for POP to support remove from server after X days. (Bug #107883)
2) I took David's fix for POP users where the password manager sometimes forgets the password when checking for new mail (Bug #219162)
3) I took David's fix for thunderbird not remembering your view setting if you are set to view Unread messages when restarting for POP users. (Bug #215694)
4) The useragent now says 0.3
5) Toolbar buttons no longer have the huge amount of horizontal padding they were incorrectly picking up before. You could really notice this when using small icons.
6) News articles with background images no longer peg the CPU at 100%.

The CPU 100% utilization bug seems to have gone, but "check for new mail every xx minutes" on IMAP server seems not to work.

Does that mean that the issues the volunteer(s) were having building linux nightlies are solved?

Using small icons w/ no text and adding the file icon makes the little dropdown marker appear under the icon. Known?

If you preview a message that doesn't require any downloading (no remote images etc.), the Stop-button is inactive. If you double click on the message and open it in a new window, however, the Stop-button becomes active.

For me also under big icons, no matter if w/ or w/o text. Very ugly!

I seem to be unable to switch between "Collected Addresses" and my Personal Address Book when using the Address Book linked from the toolbar button.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to rename the Help > Mozilla Thunderbird Help menu item to Mozilla Thunderbird Online Help, just Online Help or something like that. I guess that could be useful to know for users on dial-up.

Doesn't work here... in the Address Book I can see 7 addresses, but if I choose Contacts on a new email I can see all of them. Maybe I'm just missing the option on how to change my address book, but I can't see anything obvious as to how to do it.

One annoying thing is message filters. I have message filters set up that move messages to a folder automatically. I open my inbox, the messages are moved without displaying it in the inbox. I click on the folder with the messages, I see them there. I go back to the inbox and the newest moved messages are displayed in the inbox. I click on another folder again and back to inbox, the message disappears again.
Seems to be only a display problem since the message was moved to the right folder and is and stays there. Just the inbox displays it once somehow. Seems to be a bug. Is there since I can remember. Using IMAP.

Wow, the toolbar was the first thing I noticed. I kinda liked it with the extra padding. Anyway we can adjust that with something in the user.js?
