0.3 RC 2 Now Available (Win32, OSX)

Post by mscott »

You can find the builds here:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/ ... 09-24-1.5/

This respin fixes the following problems with release candidate 1:

1) the padding in the toolbars was too small (especially when using small icons)

2) the spell checker was not spell checking your text when you replied to a message (I had to back out the change to not spell check the reply text i.e. 'John Doe wrote:' in order to fix this).

3) News should use the server's username and password for authenticating (Bug #36816).

4) the build ID now says 9/24

Other than that the bits are identical.

Let me know how they look.

Thanks,
-Scott

I'm experiencing problems with the address book toolbar:
  • the toolbar always shows icons and text, even if I select another option (edit: sorry, my memory has played a trick on me, this issue was in all previous builds, too)
  • text is right aligned and not below the buttons (actually that doesn't look bad either, but it's different from the other toolbars).

Aye, same question as ann-dee-roo.

I aske this once before and was told that there is no build machine for the linux build. Is this still the problem that makes the Linux builds to be released later than the rest of the builds? Will this be fixed?

Sorry for writing the same thing twice but this is the one thing making it impossible for me to post bugs and help in the process of making Thunderbird better. With no build for Linux there is nothing that I can test.

Any pointers for where I can find more information about this problem, what is being done to sort it out or how us non technical people can help (vote on a bug or similiar things) would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Is there any body else, having problems with extensions?

- Get All Messages
- Offline Support

Both are not working for me, because of chrome-errors.

(The problems occur only in the german translation - in 2003-09-17 build occured no errors)

Stop whining about unfixed bugs. This thread is about recent regressions, which Scott may be not aware of.

Whining about unfixed bugs does not help your cause. In an open-source project like this bugs are fixed, when Scott has time or when a volunteer provides a patch. If you want a bug fixed immediately, fix it yourself, find someone to fix it for you or pay someone to fix it.

That's the way open source works.

As posted in the RC1 thread. There is an RC1 linux build here:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/ ... 09-23-1.5/

still waiting for the RC2 respin.

This is due to the translation.
I have the same problem with the french translation when I suppress the references to the english jar files in installed-chrome.txt.

I think the translator should only add the references to the german .jar file in installed-chrome.txt (without modifying the existing lines) and run thunderbird like that :
thunderbird -contentLocale de-DE -UILocale DE

I can't figure out why the english .jar file are always necessary for extensions to work correctly (without chrome errors).
Scott, if you think of a solution for that problem this would be great.
My opinion is that we should have a way to install and select the language package like in Mozilla.

"File" icon doesn't work. When I click it, a tiny square shows up.

problems with the translation

Post by Mad Maks »

even with no extentions can i not run the translation version of this build.

i do the same as with build 20030917. translation of the .jar files in the chrome directory, replacing the words en-US, en-win and US with nl-NL, nl-win and NL in the installed-chrome.txt and deliting the chrome.rdf like always.

when i run the translation version she make a new chrome.rdf like always and then i get a error.
