Alternative SeaMonkey Splash

Post by Geeeecko »

Since I don't like the SeaMonkey splash, I've composed a new one inspired by the Netscape 7 splash. Any ideas to improve it?

<a href="http://img2.uploadimages.net/show.php?img=861577seamonkey.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://img2.uploadimages.net/thumbs/tn_861577seamonkey.png" border="0" /></a>

(Additional URL: http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e132/ ... monkey.png )

PD: Save this image as .bmp in the SeaMonkey program files folder.

PD2: If you know an upload images service better than uploadimages.net, please, tell me. Thanks!

I personally use PhotoBucket. I swear by it. Great work by the way!

Very nice splashscreen Taz! I may use that as an alternate from time to time. Thanks so much for sharing your talents with us!

The talents of this Community, in fact, the entire Mozilla Community for all the years I've been coming here, never ceases to amaze me. :)

If you enclose the url like this , the image will be wiewable full size. I changed your image url in the quote above in this way. At photobucket, The third choice under your image. Like this...

If you copy and paste it in your post, that should work. That's how I do it, anyway.

That is really nice.
Clean, simple, & to the point.
Easy to recognise.
It has 'Gecko', 'SeaMonkey', & 'Community'.
It's all there.

Original Netscape 7:

To see the wonderful Netscape splashes (especially, versions 6.1/6.2 and 7; oh, what times!; I feel nostalgic!), <a title="http://www.guidebookgallery.org/splashes/netscape" href="http://www.guidebookgallery.org/splashes/netscape">take a look here.</a>

Like this perhaps . . . ?

Image

The one problem I see with having a SeaMonkey splash based on the one from Netscape 7.x
is the fact that the default theme isn't "Modern" (as shown in the splash) but still "Classic".
-----------------------------
SeaMonkey is like a Swiss Army knife: Versatile and dependable, with many useful tools.
Internet Explorer is like really, really, very old Swiss cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

How about reworking the design, replacing "Modern" with "Classic" . . . ?

Well, I was fan of Netscape 7 and this splash is obvious a nostalgic memory. I use the modern theme. And by the way, I hope that the council decides to use the modern theme once and for all.
