Yahoo extremely slow to load
I spend a great deal of time on Yahoo. Lately, in the last week or so, my
Firefox browser (latest version) is extremely slow or won't load any Yahoo pages.
Other sites seem to work just fine, btw.
At first, I thought maybe my ISP's searching program was being updated but then I
started surfing with Internet Explorer and it was working at normal speed.
I've never encountered a problem like this with any version of Firefox.

This also seems to fix problems people are having with Yahoo.
1) Turning off the IPv6.
2) type about:config in the Navbar/address bar and hit Enter then look for
network.dns.disableIPv6 - right-click and toggle to true
3) Restart Firefox
Also if you have the Adblock extension check that nothing from Yahoo.com or ying.com isn't being blocked.
Same for any security software like a firwall or proxy.
If none of the above work try going through:
Standard diagnostic (Firefox) - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

Took advice and disabled IPV6 to improve performance
I use win98se 500mhz proc 256 ram. No extenions or add-ons or software firewall. I have used Firefox for 5 months now and like it but it had been hanging and slow since installation and I could not close it down, had to reboot at least 3 times a day if not more often. I tried your suugestion of removing IPV6 and two days later I still have not had to reboot. Yahoo used to be very slow with lock ups but yahoo seems to be quicker. Even the news discussion boards are running smoother. I don't understand what the negative effect was of running IPV6 but things have smoothed out since I dissabled it. Can you explain simply what problem this was creating on firefox operation?
Thanks for your suggestion.

URL addresses (such as "www.google.com") have to be translated into IP addresses before your request can be sent out on the Internet. The computers that do this translation use a specific protocol. There are two versions for this protocol -- IPv4 and IPv6. Some of them apparently can't handle the newer protocol correctly, so you can tell Fx to make all lookup requests using the older version. Most people don't have any problem with this, however.

I have the same problem. Pages load quickly in IE but not firefox. Most of the content is loaded in 1-2 seconds but then is still says connecting to us.bc.yahoo.com, or att.atdmt.com, or xcs.themis.yahoo.com, or others.
In Firefox
mail takes 23 seconds to finish loading
calendar takes 22 seconds to finish loading
In IE
mail takes 2 seconds to finish loading
calendar takes 2 seconds to finish loading
Can anyone suggest a fix or at least what is the problem.
