Starting last Friday night, firefox has been crashing my computer. After browsing using FF, for what seems like a random amount of time, and on random pages (ie hotmail, digg, random other webpages) my entire screen goes black and my computer freezes (I know this because Itunes freezes also). This happens only in firefox, not IE, so I think the problem is with the app or one of it's extentions. The only thing that I have found that consistantly makes this problem occur is located here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Reducing_memo ... e_(Firefox)
Browse about half way down the page and click one of the two links, [1] or [2], with the little locks after them located under the download history header.
I am running:
Windows XP, service pack 2
768 MB Ram
Firefox extensions:
Foxytunes 1.2
FasterFox 1.0.3
IE Tab 1.0.8
Backgroundimage Saver 0.1
If anyone can help fix this (or if you need more info please let me know). I am getting quite discoraged...

Try running in Safe Mode for a while to see if that resolves the issues -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Start with a throough check for malware. See this URL for a list of free software for that purpose --

You might try a Repair installation of Win XP. See this URL for MS Help and Support page on the subject -- http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -US;315341

Update your graphics driver, that is IMO the number one cause of crashes.
Then if that doesn't fix it, make a new profile. Since you already tried safe mode this is not guaranteed to help, but it couldn't hurt. If the new profile fixes it you can copy your bookmarks and some stuff to the new profile. If the new profile doesn't fix it then just go back to your normal profile.

Re: Firefox Crashes My Computer
You've posted to a thread that died out four years ago when much earlier versions of Firefox were in use. To get support on a current version, please create a new topic and provide details of the problem.
