0.3 RC 2 Now Available (Win32, OSX)

How close is this to a final release? I am assuming pretty close since its already a release candidate.

The 0.3 release is meant to coincide with the Mozilla 1.5 suite final release date, so pretty soon yes. It's RC2 btw. Personally I think there are still some standing bugs which need to be resolved before the 0.3 branch is ready for a release.

Is junk mail sanatizing meant to prevent any remote images from being displayed ? I always thought this was the case but just noticed that it isn't doing it in rc2 so I am not sure if it is a regression or not.

Same thing happened to me. RC2 seems not to be sanitizing messages automatically marked as junk mail, so images and attachments etc still show up. I'm fairly sure it is a regression, but I'm not sure when from. Does anyone know if there's a bugzilla report for this yet or not? Thanks,

Hmm this seems to be working for me using RC2. You see the message get marked as junk but when you click on it, we don't sanitize it anymore for you huh? Any errors in the JS console?

Ok, 2 issues with this RC so far:
- Sometimes (very rarely) it hands while downloading POP3 e-mail.
- The sort settings get reset quite often (esp. for Inbox) - I have it set "In Order Received" "Descending" and it gets reset by Date Ascending.

I actually found this to be happening with messages that were getting automatically moved from Junk folder into Trush folder after 14 days.
Inside Trash folder they are still sporting a Junk Mail mark, but if you click on them, they load all images inside.

So maybe that's what you've been noticing?

Haven't had any junk recently, which I guess I should be happy about... (Where's spam when you need it?) My setup was an IMAP account, mail came in, got marked as junk automatically and I think was then automatically deleted as well. Since this is IMAP deleting, it was just marked as deleted, and clicking on it, it loaded (marked as junk at the top) and images (attachments) inside the message loaded. Hope this description helps, if there's anything else I can help with, I'll be watching this thread...

I've gone back to 0.2 after installing 0.3 yesterday. 0.2 working fine, 0.3 didn't. After installing 0.3,I made it the default mail program. But when I clicked on a link that should have opened Thundebird so that I could send an email, I got an error notice saying nothing was responding. I then tried to send a test message and it wouldn't go.

Solved all my problems by going back to 0.2

Im new to Thunderbird as of 9-23-3, the Official build
im using is rock solid, I installed a revised Qute theme
by Sboulema with nice yellow icons for folders in the left pane,
and I also installed the New Extension Manager, its still solid
and works very well, I love ThunderbirdMail--ty ty ty

This respin fixes the following problems with release candidate 1:

1) the padding in the toolbars was too small (especially when using small icons)

2) the spell checker was not spell checking your text when you replied to a message (I had to back out the change to not spell check the reply text i.e. 'John Doe wrote:' in order to fix this).

3) News should use the server's username and password for authenticating (Bug #36816).

4) the build ID now says 9/24

Other than that the bits are identical.

Let me know how they look.

Im new to Thunderbird, 9-23-3 was my first install.
Im downloading this new 9-24-3 to get the working spell
checker, this is my first update from 9-23-3 version. Any
thing I need to know? Everything is in my profile as far
as mail, server settings etc. right?? Im totally freaked
out about this. Any suggestions before I hose
the Thunderbird directory? Or should I wait for final

You mean the padding was too large, right?

This build looks great. Since the padding issue has been resolved, the default toolbar set should be changed so that it doesn't use three separators every time. It should only be one separator per "button separation", if you know what I mean.

I agree with you on that point. Thanks for mentioning it. I just changed the default spacing on the main mail window toolbar to only use one spacer between button groups and not three.

the most alarming regression is that sometimes TB stops downloading POP3 mail. Clicking on Get Mail button doesn't do anything at all and gives no visible reaction. Or it might start connecting to the server, get the logo spinning and just sits doing that indefinitly. There is no problem with the POP server itself, I have manually checked it through telnet. I have to close TB and restart it for it to start working again.
It happens sometimes, and I don't have a sure way to reproduce it. I haven't experienced this with previous builds.

Is TB affected by bug 219376 from which FB has been suffering lately? I think you really should apply that fix if it's relevant before you release 0.3 or release another RC.

Scott it went smooth, mail is intact, I didnt even have to
re-install my newer Sbuolema theme or Extension Manager.
Spell check works on writing and reply, all tests are go!

The bug you cited doesn't apply to the 0.3 branch.

I may need a POP log from you to help track this down.
