Problem updating v 1.5.0.2

Clicking on "Check for updates" brings up the Software Update box but the update download is frozen, it shows "Paused downloading Firefox 1.5.0.2" the bar does show a small amount of progress but it has stalled, clicking on "Resume" does not work because that is frozen as well, have disabled Firewall to no avail, any advice or suggestions ?

Quit Firefox, go to your application directory (default for Windows is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox)
Delete active-update.xml and updates.xml. Now delete the folder called updates (including its sub-folder named 0)

Had the same problem with 1.5.0.3. Found this thread after a long search. Tried out the suggestions. Upgrade started, but now have a new problem, message says: "Firefox was unable to verify the integrity of the incremental update it downloaded, so it is now downloading the complete update package". The progress bar is active, but all other buttons are greyed out except the'Details' button. Have kept it going for the last half hour but can't make out if it is actually downloading anything. Any ideas anyone ? Thanks.
PS: Running XP
