RSS prob - "You already have a subscription for this fe
Hi,
I was having trouble with on of my RSS feeds so I deleted it. But now, when I try to add it again I get that error "You already have a subscription for this feed."
It's deleteed from the trash, and I've rebooted the PC.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

I was having the exact same problem ... this worked for me:
I went into the following folder:
"C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\Mail\News & Blogs"
NOTE!: "USER NAME" will need to be translated to your Windows "Current User" name and and "xxxxxxxx" to whatever Thunderbird calls your Profile Folder (probably something like "b4fith8t.default"). There may be some other minor variations in the path, depending on your setup.
Notice that each RSS feed has two folders: 1) A folder named after the feed, with no filename extension and 2) a matching folder with the filename extension "msf" ... in my case, Thunderbird HAD NOT deleted these files for the feed I had previously deleted, so I deleted them manually. You may find that the files are already gone -- if not, just delete them. If this makes you nervous, you could just move the files to a new location temporarily.
There is also another pair of files in the same folder, called "feeditems.rdf" and "feeds .rdf" -- again, you might want to copy these to another location so you have the originals to go back to in case of an error of some sort. Then use a good text editor like UltraEdit (I'm not sure I'd trust Notepad not to screw something up) to carefully edit out all references to the news feed(s) in question. BE CAREFUL! If you have no experience editing HTML files, you might want to get some help with this -- it is not difficult, but you should make sure you remove the beggining and and ending tags and everything between them. Here's an example of an entry to be deleted if the feed in question was "The Conservative Voice":
<fz:feed RDF:about="http://www.theconservativevoice.com/rss/tcvnews.lasso"
fz:quickMode="false"
dc:identifier="http://www.theconservativevoice.com/rss/tcvnews.lasso"
dc:title="The Conservative Voice News"
NS1:link="http://www.theconservativevoice.com/">
<fz:destFolder RDF:resource="mailbox://nobody@News%20%26%20Blogs/TCV%20News"/>
</fz:feed>
Also make sure you don't accidentally add any blank lines or carriage returns (newline) to the files. Some entries may be less detailed than the example I gave, but just make sure you get them all, and make sure you delete the tags and everything between.
Again, make sure you delete ALL REFERENCES, as there are probably numerous instances -- use the Edit>Find feature on your editor to search both files completely.
When you're finished editing, save each file and then restart Thunderbird. You should now be able to add the desired newsfeed without the error message. I'm no expert, mind you, but that's exactly how I fixed mine ...
Hope this helps, good luck!

THANKS!
Thanks a lot!
Worked on the first try. Another possiblity is to comment out the region, if you're not sure what you're doing.
Just put everything in between
"<!--" and "-->"
For those using Linux: you'll find the files in your folder /home/user/.thunderbird/XXXX.default/ and so on.
Really weird bug, eh?
Thanks again!

Re: RSS prob - "You already have a subscription for this fe
A solution without having to tinker with files:
export your feeds as .opml, remove them all (rm -rf *) from
~/.(mozilla-)thunderbird/XXXXX.default/feeds.folder
and then re-import them

Re: RSS prob - "You already have a subscription for this fe
I do have the same problem with adding feeds, I have previously deleted ("You already have a subscription for this feed.") for thunderbird 2.0.0.21 on my USB stick. Can someone tell me were to find the path to ''/thunderbird/profiles'' on my USB to see if the above mentioned solutions works for me as well?

There are bug entries for this problem.
Please, instead of posting there, add your voice there: http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_mess ... eleting_it
or there: http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_mess ... _rss_feeds
so the bug gets noticed and fixed.
No one from mozilla seems to read this thread, so it's pretty pointless to add anymore stuff.
Cheers,
Laurent
