Qute is in - skin authors read this.

Post by kerz »

We finally got CVS fixed, and qute has now been turned on as the default theme. Thanks to the orbit guys for letting us use it for so long, and thanks to the Qute folk for also letting us use it.

As far as what's left to do, we still need to for the rest of the communicator skin files, and update them to use the print stuff from qute. We may also change the name of the theme, and package it in a new jar, so that we don't have to deal with any of the mailnew or editor skin files, which will lower the download size by a small amount.

For skin authors, these changes may keep you on your toes, but we'll try to keep you updated on what's happening.

Hope everyone has a nice christmas!

jason

ps, please post bugs on the qute changes in this thread!

New theme name suggestion

Post by djst »

May I suggest using "Default" as the theme name? That would at least make sense. Or maybe "$AppName Default" (whatever $AppName will be).

It's a great theme whatever it's called!

Change the name of the theme? Like Phoenix? Whatever the name, this Qute theme is neat. Thanks, Arvid. :-D

Thanks, djst. Now, I'm thinking of making a complete icon set once Phoenix/whatever 0.6 is released. And uh, did I mentioned the Qute icon that I made?

I agree. It would make a lot more sense than the "classic" which never was.

this is kind of a build bug, but related to the new skin

console output, building Px from cvs

Code: Select all

+++ updating chrome ../../dist/bin/chrome/installed-chrome.txt
+++     skin,install,url,jar:resource:/chrome/classic.jar!/skin/classic/browser/

the problem is: './skin/Search-bar.png' doesn't exist

./skin/search-bar.png probably does

same thing happened with

./icons/Folder-item.png

equivalent folder-item.png does exist

building on Linux, hence the case problems

This theme is a pain in the eyes in any OS != XP

Post by pisuke »

IMHO this theme is ok for winxp, but has a really bad gnome, kde, whatever integration.

cheers.

Dull grey color

Post by andred »

The grey colour makes me really sad - how about obeying the GTK standard color instead on Linux? Look at all the boring grey on this screenshot:

For linux users, can you go into mozilla/toolkit/Makfile.in and un-comment the skin/unix stuff, rebuild, and tell me how it looks? It may bring back the system colors on linux, but I had no way to test, so windows and linux are both using the same skin stuff for now.
