I tried this, and unfortunately it didn't help. If anything, it made things look worse. The back and forward buttons got poorly aligned and the icons vanished in Bookmark Manager. Other things might have changed too, but that's what I can spot right away. Screenshots follow:

I'd be more than willing to do any further tests. I'm running Phoenix under Gnome 2.x if that matters.

Sometimes you have to restart Phoenix with a new theme to get the icons to align properly or appear.

Despite what my avatar says, I'm not a newbie to this browser, so I did try to restart it a few times;-) The misalignment is there despite that, and this is with a freshly created profile. It only happens with the Phoenix build created after editing Makefile.in the way kerz suggested.

Sorry, that was not my implication. However, I am a newbie to PC's - under a year.

Yes, Andre is quite an experienced bug triager for Phoenix...

For 'Clear', use:

FYI, these have been implemented in Phoenity 0.51 :)

Wow, I'm also quite a newbie, for only two years. ;-)

How about you use the name Orbit and instead of using the new buttons you use the Orbit buttons, now that would be cool. :D

Main toolbar icon size vs. size of bookmark manager icons

Post by andred »

I have noticed that the icons in the Bookmark Manager are quite a bit larger than the icons on the main toolbar, and the fact that text is also displayed under the icons (although I have selected toolbars to only have icons) makes them look even larger.

Same thing for the javascript console.
Not very important, though :)

Just installed the latest Phoenix nightly for Linux with Qute as the default. Still can't say that I like how it looks in Linux. But anyway, I'm still seeing this annoying upwards text shift in the tab bar when mousing over a tab...

Now that Qute has displaced Classic and Modern, it's probably time to replace the screenshot for the default theme. Also, rename it ('Default' would work).

I notice that with the 2002-12-25 build there are now horizontal lines separating menubar, toolbar, bookmarkbar and page content.

In my Win XP Silver style, the new default theme looks great.

Ed

Edit: also, no text shift when mousing over tabs.

I posted about the screenshot ... to the wrong thread :(
Laszlo and I agree about the Classic and Modern thing.

what a pity

Post by sgipan »

I liked the modified orbit theme better than qute; and the standard orbit theme is not the same.....
The problem with the standard orbit theme (and many others) is all this gradient stuff all over the screen. A browser is a tool to display content but it shouldn't claim attention for itself.
So I'll wander off on the long road of the quest for the best theme.

Ah, two more things:
- If somebody comes across it: the "get new themes" link in the preferences box is broken. It should be http://themes.mozdev.org/phoenix, right? I'll check whether this already has been submitted.
- Just a question: I would *really* like to see loading speed and document size in the status bar. Is that depending on the skin or is it a function Phoenix has to provide?

No. Everything is being directed to David Tenser's site, which is unfortunately down due to a server change. My sig has a link to a link to the mirror.
