I can't see that although it's probably because I'm accessing the wrong mirrors. M1 stands for Milestone 1 which usually predates a point release like 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 (I think). Maybe mscott's going to make a post about it soon. Maybe I'll keep clicking to see this mysterious folder. What's inside it anyhoo?

Theres a bugzilla bug about M1 at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=221542 as well as one on M2 somewhere else.
According to the UA of the zip file thats in the FTP folder it is "Mozilla Thunderbird 0.3.1 (20031016)"

It's 0.3 + some vcard support from the trunk that I needed to make for a potential Thunderbird customer.
Nothing much to see there, really! I recommend folks stick with the more tested 0.3 code which is why I did not advertise it nor put it in the release directory.
But if you want vcard support with 0.3, feel free to use that build.

Careful with this version. It wiped out all address books in all user profiles.
