[EXT] Splash screen - Pre 1.0 (mrtech and slyfox)

Post by slyfox »

I am planning on submitting it to AMO as soon as I have the images(Logos, icons, and such) from my artist(mcdavis941) this weekend sometime

Name: Splash Screen

Runs on: Flock, Firefox
Status: Hopefully no bugs
Version: Pre 1.0
Info: Adds a splash screen at start, also with sound features, customize everything from loading message to font

Note: A little buggy if there is little free system resources while starting

Download: http://paperprogs.berlios.de/splash/splash.xpi

Plans for future versions:
- Option to close Splash screen immediately after browser window opens
- Button to browse locally for splash image and/or startup sound
- Auto splash image size detection and padding refactoring
- Option to Fade-In and/or Fade-Out the splash screen

new/revamped options screen is complete I'll forward it once I get home and we'll post something here.

The splash options window is now just like the Firefox 1.5 options dialog with images above etc.

I've also added the following features:
- Instant apply to all the options
- "Preview" button to see/hear changes
- "Reset All" button to reset all Splash prefs.

Really looking forward to testing this out. Will this be for 1.5? Or will it also be Bon Echo compatible?

Full 1.5 and above, I have some more goodies I'll be adding too, right now we're more than half way through what I see as a really easy and snazzy extension.

Very nice. I really like the option of changing the text. I also am not quite sure how to add my own image. How is the image url of an image stored on your computer located?

All options are applied auto
As it says on the options screen it is setup like this(If the file is on 'c:\pizza.png') "file:///c:/pizza.png"

Thanks. Is there a size limit for the image used? Or is it resized using the "Image Height/Padding" selection in Splash Screen options?

Also: Gotta problem. Just restarted. The splash screen showed up in the Windows task bar, but it wasn't visible. Maybe a conflict with another extension? Restarted several times, same result. Splash Screen is at default settings.

I've seen this happen after firefox was fully cached in memory and the speed of the system. try minimizing all other windows, it will eventually come back, I'll try to see what I can find out.

the next release will have better image and sound selecting and auto height adjustments, enjoy.

Thanks for all the options, so far! It's working well for me. Here is a screenshot of my splash screen (for those who are interested):
