Flash player/streaming video not working on some sites

Post by ForteMP3 »

Well, this problem has me stumped. Recently, my mother updated to Firefox 1.5.0.7, but since then she has been unable to play videos on the following websites:

www.abc.com
abcnews.go.com
www.msnbc.com

Things like Youtube and Google Video still seem to work. The symptoms on the sites I listed above do differ somewhat.

-For ABCNews and ABC
It will say the video is loading, but it ends up hanging on this screen. Interestingly enough, if I right click, I see the following text:
"Disney FSP (version number etc) no stream"

-For MSNBC
Nothing shows up at all.

When trying to run these sites on IE, the same problem occurs, although ABC.com causes IE to hang/lag to the point scripts have to be stopped, or the program has to be end tasked.

If anyone else has experienced this, or knows a possible cause/solution, we'd be happy to hear. Thanks in advance. Oh, and if I need to add any more details, please mention that.

Huh. <A HREF="http://abc.go.com/fsp/index.html?channel=ExtremeMakeoverHomeEdition&clip=113392">this</A> runs in IE but not FF and I'm using v.1.5.0.6. I didn't normally have problems running any videos until I tried ABC.com. Must be the site itself b/c YouTube & Google both work for me.

Some sites with flash have crashed FF. Be sure to update to the most recent Shockwave and Flash Players.

Current Flash Player is v 9,0,16,0 and Shockwave Flash Player is 10.3.1 r18

You can verify what version of both you have on this page:

I'm not sure about the other guy, but I have the most recent versions of the above-referenced Flash and FF does the same thing for me. The videos from ABC.com just hang.

I believe you are correct. It appears there is someone at ABC.com that is unfamiliar with how to end an HTML tag properly.

I believe current Shockwave player is 10.1.3 r18, not 10.3.1 r18 that has been mentioned.
