How do I disable plugins like Flash?

With Internet Explorer, I can disabled Adobe/Macromedia Flash plugin.

How do I do it with Firefox 2?

(All Flash are annoying ads anyway, so I'm not missing anything.)

No I don't want to install any extensions to Firefox 2. I don't want to block anything, I want to disable an installed Plugin.

Remove this file: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\NPSWF32.dll (or adapt the path according to your installation)

No more flash.

The answer is you can't. Internet Explorer gives you control over your plugins. Firefox 2 does not. (Without 'adding extensions' which is counter-intuitive, or deleting files.)

Maybe add "Plugin Controls" to the next version of Firefox?

File a bug. Some features like "plugin control" are done in FF via extensions. That's the way it is at the moment.

Why do you do not want to remove that file? You have installed it. Flash is not a part of the FF package.

Many features are added to Fx via extensions: if you would put all of them in Fx then Fx would become unworkable so choices were made.

It doesnt, though it shows flash on the list after you install it.

Could be caused by the location of the Flash plugin: in the Firefox program folder (plugins folder) or in the C:\windows\system32\Macromed\ folder.
