Request reason why in FB, google goes straight to localised

Post by Langeline »

Request reason why in FB, google goes straight to localised google? For e.g. when I type google.com, it goes straight to google.com.sg? (.sg being my country, singapore)

Why only in MFB, and not in Opera or IE? Just wondering :) Although I don't mind because the results are similar. ^_^ And erm,.. is there a way to disable it? (Just in case hehe)

I thought this was a function of your reverse DNS lookup and then Google attempts to make a decision based on this information to give you a localized version of Google.

Personally, I dislike it because even though I have EN set as my primary language, my reverse lookup defaults to .JP and I get the Japanese localized version of Google.

I'm also in Japan and used to have this same problem. Make sure that you have cookies enabled for google.com and NOT just for the local Google (google.co.jp or whatever). In my case, I have cookes enabled for google.com only, and I never get redirected any more.
