Robert S. wrote:Your welcome... just be sure to disable or uninstall it when you upgrade to 2.0 since there is built in spell checking with it. I may come up with another version for 2.0 but for now I am focused on working on 2.0.

Personally, I'm already pretty much satisfied with 2.0's implementation as it is, but hey, if you think of some extension enhancement I obviously haven't thought of, I'm all for it.

Firefox 2.0 beta 1: out now.

Using both Firefox with SpellBound and Thunderbird, is it possible to link the two seperate profile persdict.dat files together? I've just found myself having to add a whole set of words that were already in one personal dictionary to the other. Can I manually combine the two in one profile and then make the other a symbolic link to it?

The Mozilla spell check engine which is used by spellbound does not support linking the two afaik.

Bump.

No more spellbound?

The built-in spelling isn't sufficient. It doesn't check every field automatically, and there doesn't seem to be a way to change that.

Is there no other option?

Right. I should've specified. There's that and there's the built-in, but neither of them does inline spellcheck on every field - that one doesn't do inline spellcheck at all.

For the built-in version in Firefox 2, type about:config into the location bar.
Locate the preference layout.spellcheckDefault, double-click on it and change it's value to 2.

Yes, I know. But it still doesn't work all of the time.

The fields I want it for the most are quick reply fields on vbulletin boards - and it doesn't work.

I think there's another example, too, but I'm not coming up with it off the top of my head.

I just don't like not noticing typos when I'm trying to sound intelligent.

And I think my typing skills have peaked.

Bump again.

No more spellbound dev version?

I'm really frustrated that Firefox has this huge usability issue, and there's no available fix.

A bump from me.

The built in spell check isn't nearly as good as spellbound. I'd really like a version that would work with Fx 2.

I will be extremely busy working on Firefox 3.0 but if I can find the time to update it I will.

I'd personally appreciate it, Robert S.

I'm very frustrated by the current spellchecking system in Firefox 2. It would be a huge help if you could do that.

That would be a very welcome update.
