Connection refused when attempting to contact www.whatever.c

I keep getting the above message when attempting to contact ANY web site using Mozilla Firebird.

I went to IE and can connect, however on some sites, in place of some of the JPG's or other graphics, I get a red X that does not show when I go to the website from another computer.

Just to try to see what the problem was, I installed Opera and get the same "Connection refused" error. IE seems to be thae only one that can connect, however has the arbitrary image issues. I would much rather be using my Mozilla. Help!!!!! ](*,)

Using Windows XP Pro and Firebird 0.7. I can't even connect to my router unless I use IE.

I have already gone thru the solutions listed at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... on+refused . It does not appear to be a proxy issue since I do not yuse them and I have my firewall shutdown (Zone Alarm.

May be IE opens the connection and FB and Opera don't.
So you may have to connect first to your ISP.
