Please do not link to that site, but only to the official Mozilla Firefox site: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... /releases/

No good. I don't have a profile to remove. I don't have any Mozilla folder in the Application Data folder, thus too, no profile to corrupt. Creating a new profile does not change anything; I still have all my bookmarks and I still have a bunch of addons that will not disable so that they can be reenabled.

This is why I want to remove every single trace of Firefox from my system. So I can start at ground zero and work my way back up.

However it seems that removing every trace of Firefox requires an advanced degree in Technobabble because my measly BS in CS from Ga Tech (with honor, no less) is not sufficient to interpret the Firefox knowledge base that would shame common man pages.

If this is what Open Source produces, then I will gladly stick with proprietary software. At least I can sue them. heehee

btw, creating a new profile did not create a Mozilla folder in Application Data, nor even a folder named Mozilla or Firefox anywhere on my system. So wherever the profile does reside, it is not anywhere outside of Program Files with anything named Mozilla or Firefox in its hierarchy.

You have to enable "Show hidden files and Folders" as from Win 2K some system files and folders are hidden.

My problems are as follows.
1. Many of my add-ons are not where they should be on the toolbars where I had them in 2.0.0.2.
2. All of my installed toolbars appear every time I start FF, even though I never had them set that way and even though I turn them off each time I use FF.
3. When I add icons to the toolbars, they do not stay after closing and restarting FF.
4. My window for FF does not open full-screen, as is my custom.

^Your problem is http://kb.mozillazine.org/Toolbar_custo ... on_startup

Please it's easier for us if you start another thread for a separate problem, as sometimes you may get lost in the chatter.

If you have ever run Firefox, you have a profile folder. It is NOT in the "Program Files" folder. Anything you find there is just a template for creation of a valid, new profile. Follow the directions in the Knowledge Base on finding, creating a profile, etc.

I'm suspect this is related to the same problem?

I'm running XP. I upgraded FF from 2.0.0.2 to 2.0.0.3 with parts of the Google search bar included. The addons and Google toolbar tookup too much real estate and one of the Google security pieces was grinding my machine to a halt, so I uninstalled everything that comes with the the toolbar except the toolbar.

I restarted FF and all the addons bars and butons were gone, not just for the pieces related to Google. The addons manager listed all the addons I had before but said "blahblah will be installed when FF reboots." After rebooting FF that was not true! The message on each addon was the same as before. I deleted all the addons--now the message along side each addon said that it would be deleted "when FF reboots." Again, after rebooting FF that was not true!.

I removed FF and reinstalled it and couldn't get any addons to actualy "add," (I can't recall the text of the message because it only stayed on the screen for a few seconds but it was definately a system error of some sort.
