Themes won't install

Post by Belbo »

Hi,

i'm trying to get some themes from http://texturizer.net/phoenix/themes.html to work. I'm using Phoenix 0.4 but everytime I try to install a theme only a new Window a white background and without any bars or buttons appears and I'm asked whether I want to save a file of type 'XML-Based User Interface Language' (The same happens when trying themes from mozdev.org)
I already tried saving the .xpi locally and installing it afterwards but that doen't work either. Is my profile broken or this some kind of bug in Phoenix?

That's the classic symptom of a broken profile I'm afraid.

So I have to start phoenix with the -ProfileManager option and create a new profile? That's ok, but can I import my old bookmarks.html afterwards? I guess yes, it shouldn't break anything, right?

Bookmarks that have the wrong favicons set in them by a prior buglet need to be edited. When you're not running Phoenix, edit your bookmarks.html to remove the bogus ICON=random/faviconname.

Correct. This is <b>not</b> a problem with the profile. It's a problem with some outdated themes, such as Luna.

You can make someting nice and small when you install (from the classic theme)

1st. Bluecurve
2nd. Skypilot classic

Then restart Phoenix to get all the buttons correctly.

I can provide a screenshot but I have no idea how to paste it in here

No problem. Just read this. You could also just use HTML:
