For clarification, note that the "connection reset" message is similar to the error message that occurs if the connection times out. The timeout message is what you would see in case of a domain-name-service (DNS) failure.
Is this error message due to Firefox or Norton or ?

If you get a chance, can you see if you can view the page source when this happens? You said sometimes the Web site flashes briefly before the error message is displayed. Go to the View menu and select "Page Source". Presumably, this will show that much of the Web site has actually been received and could be displayed.

I can confirm that this "connection reset" problem is caused by Norton Add-on Pack. I didn't have the Add-on Pack, but a Norton tech support person had me install it due to an e-mail spam problem. Immediately after installation, I started getting "connection reset" messages. Never had that issue before.

A little more information,
Yesterday while I was with clients I noticed that two clients with Norton Internet Security 2007 & the Add-on pack that were not having "connection reset by server" problems. They were using the original version of Norton Internet Security 2007 & the first edition of the add on pack.
From the best I can tell the only ones having the "connection reset by server" problem are the ones that downloaded the new version of Norton Internet Security and the newest version of the add-on pack. (Vista and XP compatible version of Norton Internet Security 2007 and the add-on pack.)

I as mentioned earlier there are actually two versions of Norton Internet Security 2007. Version 1 was released in October 2006 version 2 was released in 2007. Version 2 is a free upgrade you can download off of Symantec's web site. Version 2 supports Windows XP and Windows Vista. The add on pack apparently comes in three versions. Version 1 was released in late October 2006 and version 1.01 was released in March 2007. Version 1.1 on the add on pack was released in May 2007. Versions 1.01 and 1.1 are designed to support Windows XP and Windows Vista. I did not have these problems with "connection reset by server" back when I was using version 1 of NIS 2007 and version 1 of the add on pack. Something has changed with the Symantec product in the later versions.
I have notified Symantec of the "connection reset by server" issue but have yet to hear back from them.
Is it just me or has Symantec lately developed a bit of an anti Mozilla attitude? Now when I go to their web site I receive a prominent error 19 if I use Firefox.
In the mean time does anyone have any suggestions for a good advertisement blocker?

Pinnacle.sys (support page) has the error message about 50% of the time. National Library of medicine pub med database has the message about 50% of the time. Weird. Must be some strange incompatibility between NIS 2007 version 2 and Firefox 2.03.
