Always start in offline mode?

Post by Burma »

<br>I don't want to be asked and I don't want TB to remember what the previous mode was. I just always want it to start offline.

Any way to do that?

Set the preference offline.startup_state to 3.

With Thunderbird closed, load the Profile Manager ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager ) and select both "Work offline" and "Don't ask at startup".

The recommendation from Rod Whitely works for Thunderbird 2.

With Thunderbird 2 the recommendation from DanRaisch is not working (the Work offline checkbox has no effect at all) and has been reported in Bugzilla.

Just FYI ... see this thread for Bugzilla links:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 26#2902326

I should have been more precise ... the problems with the offline options are only reported as reproducible for Windows users. Apparently the problem does not exist for Linux users and there are no reports from MAC users.

Thanks everyone. Offline.startup_state=3 works swell on my copy of version 1.5.0.12 (20070509).
