Knowledge Base - Help, Feedback, Requests
The Knowledge Base gathers important support documentation. Since the KB is only as good as its contributors, this thread was created to help new editors, solicit feedback, and fulfill requests for content.
We've written a general overview of how to work the KB that may be useful to new editors. If you're going to make significant edits please take a quick look at the rules and guidelines
Anyone can get a knowledge base account by sending a email to mozillaZineKB AT gmail DOT com. Mention what username you'd prefer. The only reason for the registration process is to help combat spam. The account will let you edit or create articles on the wiki. You don't need it to read the articles.
If you have some information you'd like to contribute and don't want to either edit the article or add it to the article's talk page, post it to this thread and somebody will add it to the appropriate talk page.

I'm looking for feedback on proposed guidelines for how technical the Knowledge Base should be. Feedback is very much welcomed at the discussion on that page or here in this thread.

Perhaps a two stage approach, may the the thing.
Quick reference articles to solve problems, like crashes etc, then more technical articles provided, for the brave souls who wish to know more.
These should be made readable, with as little jargon as possible, especially the Quick Reference guides.
I think you have two types of people to cater for. Those that need a step by step guide to how to fix a problem (who don't know very much about computers), and those who want to delve a bit deeper into the system, to tinker with the system, or build themes/extensions.
Perhaps a guide to technobabble may be a good idea too...

Sure. Commented in the "The KB is too technical" section before http://kb.mozillazine.org/Knowledge_Base_changes#Draft

I welcome anyone to read through my and everyone else's postings in that newsgroup and provide feedback. This stuff's not secret - links to the (public) newsgroup have been posted in various people's blogs (on the Feedhouse and planet.mozilla.org), the Knowledge Base, as well as a pretty popular thread in this forum about a month ago.

from within function "MediaWikiBagOStuff::_doinsert". MySQL returned error "1062: Duplicate entry 'wiki:pcache:idhash:7-0!1!0!0!!en!2' for key 1 (tera)".
When I click on http://kb.mozillazine.org/
I can still access http://kb.mozillazine.org/Special:Recentchanges and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Special:Categories . When I click on one of the categories it lists the articles. When I click on a link to one of the articles in that listing, most of them are viewable, though a few cause that error.

I get similar errors on the first two articles. I clicked the "edit" button on the first page, http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... hunderbird and made a few minor edits, then "show preview" displayed the content but after saving the page a DataBase error still occurred. Tried twice.

DDEexec hack/fix doesn't save
When trying to make uncheck the the DDE box on File Type/ (NONE) Firefox URL, it doesn't save. Also, when trying to create an account on the Logon/Create Account there's no place to create an account on.

You missed the
on http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.php?tit ... ledge_Base and the first post on this thread on how to create a KB account..While anyone can have an account, because of problems with spam, accounts can only be created by existing members. If you are someone who wants to edit documentation, send an e-mail to jason underscore barnabe at fastmail dot fm containing your desired username. If there is a problem, ask for help in the Knowledge Base - Help, Feedback, Requests thread in the forum.
