This code makes FF (or Flock) faster by truckloads

Post by luntrus »

GetElementsByTagName or GetElementsByClassName etc. slows FF down considerably, to have a more flexible working and faster (page) loading save the following file as SelectableElementsTable.js inside the components folder of your browser.
The download link for my javascript file is here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/18447141/4f ... Table.html
File size: 10835 bytes
MD5: 405c4b524f49c958c285bff1c58944c3
SHA1: c2cc25768d16a02d4db8b02e12cab4ae5dec5085

I got various reports that attest that the script makes the browser load pages considerably faster. But I like to get back info from you as well as how the script functions inside your FF or Flock browser.

Enjoy,

Gee, if its so good, why don't file a bug, and supply a patch, see what the developers think?

Do you actually have the reports available for us to read, and a link to them so that they can be viewed?

Here people attested that the code helped page load considerably, even with ABP plus, NoScript and Stealther add-ons enabled. Hope they will bring it into the official code in the components folder, it would help a lot of users,

IMO, he would have done better by filing it as a new Bug-RFE. Also, discussion in the two provided forum links is very sketchy as to whether this is an enhancement restricted to dial-up or if broadband users can benefit.

I tried putting it into 2.0.0.4, it does seem faster. I'm on 56k dialup.

Hello forum members,

I got many positive replies on this code both from people on broadband, and on dial-up. Many from "down under" e.g. Australia and New-Zealand. I hope it will be taken in by the developers, so many can profit from it. So please spread it until it is brought in at the Burning Edge. The enabling of Stealther, NoScript or AdBlockPlus does not hinder the workings of the code.

Hi dogbreath the javascript file has to go into the browser's components folder as SelectableElementsTable.js to work.
