I don't know, I just read through the entire thread yesterday (some fun dinnertime reading :)) and I started out at the beginning feeling similar to you, but by the end I began to see the logic behind their decision. First off, brendan's absolutely correct that Fx is the main driving force behind Mozilla and that needs to be recognized when allocating the resources they've got. That said, towards the end it became more apparent that the long-term goal is to get XULRunner and its APIs to the point where they're stable enough for quality apps to be written on top of it instead of the tangled mess that things are currently. They just don't want to have be constrained when massively overhauling things by the needs of the Thunderbird (and other 2nd-tier apps) camp. But as bz pointed out, that doesn't mean they wouldn't give the TB devs a heads-up when things are changing for them to be aware of.

I also think the whole multiple repositories thing got blown way out of proportion once it became clear that with a little client.mk goodness, everything can still be pulled in one shot even if it's coming from two different places.

But anyway, that's my take on it. I think TB will eventually adapt simply because Gecko 2.0 will make it worth the trouble to :). And I also think they're right that they need to allocate their resources to where they'll get the most return, and that's the core and Fx.

From yesterday's thread:
Peter(6) wrote:If I need to ad bugs to the red list, please say so.
I'd suggest to include the following bug into the 'red list: #337761"Folder does not open anymore for dragged link". This still is very annoying when trying to move an URL into a bookmark folder.

from yesterday:
regarding libcurl. i know michal017 said he was on debian, but someone made a major dick up with *ubuntu gutsy a few days ago. here is a summary from the changelogs:

curl (7.16.2-6ubuntu4) gutsy; urgency=low

* Completly revert the two previous changes - libcurl's symbols are
versioned.

curl (7.16.2-6ubuntu3) gutsy; urgency=low

* Add Conflicts and Replaces on older versions of libcurl4{,-gnutls} for
libcurl3{,-gnutls} so that upgrades don't blow up.

curl (7.16.2-6ubuntu2) gutsy; urgency=low

* Provide two transitional packages, libcurl4 and libcurl4-gnutls that
depend on their libcurl3 counterparts.
* Stop libcurl3 and libcurl3-gnutls Conflicting and Providing their
libcurl4 counterparts.

(names removed to protect identities  )
i know its unrelated even tho ubuntu's packaging releases rely on debian, so to speak, but i just thought i'd relay it....
i'm still waiting for curl (7.16.2-6ubuntu4) to hit the repos cuz life without amarok sucks.

scale printing freezes the firefox

Post by batfree »

If the print scale is not 100%, it cause the firefox stop response.
When I want to printing the web page in the scale 90%, the firefox freeze and the task manager of Windows xp shows memory and virtual memory changes from 60M to 300M, sometimes 5M. It freezes over 10 minutes before I kill it.
( Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007070404 Minefield/3.0a7pre and the web page I want to print is www.google.com , firefox in safe mode without addons)
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click Page Preview and select scale to 80%
2. Click printe

Yes, I second that! This bug and the fact that Tab Mix Plus is broken on trunk keeps me from testing for a few weeks now :(

Peter(6), please add bug 386390 to the red list now that the popup rewrite has landed for real.

Got a layout issue that appeared on http://xkcd.com/ since yesterday's nightly. Notice at the bottom where the text no longer wraps.

Anyone confirm?

I have had no Quicktime controls at http://www.apple.com/trailers/ for weeks and weeks...

Image

Minimizing and remaximizing Minefield renders whatever window or desktop was in the backround in the controller area. Nobody has said anything about this that I've seen. Reinstalling Quicktime and plugins does nothing. No bugs for this issue in Bugzilla. Any confirmation or suggestions would be highly appreciated.
