GrApple theme stuff ...
Hi,
a picture from a test version of one of my next GrApple themes http://www.takebacktheweb.org ,
which has more less a complete outlook for Firefox 3.0
on the picture:
1. It is a screenshot with the current (unfinished) theme - created together
with a special Firefox version, which has already the upcoming Unified Toolbar patch
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=303110
(The limitation not to add a gradient on the title-bar enforce a compromise -
the top is a little bit darker than usual for a (Leopard) Unified Toolbar
design and at the bottom is it more brightly as usual)
2. the final 3.0 version will have the new Star Button inside the location bar
- makes it then as well possible to create a cleaner location bar
3. with the missing 3.0 features on the sidebar - to compare
http://tinyurl.com/2ojfvr
4. to show the search-bar feature - the search-go button (the orange button)
appears only when it is necessary
and as well the tab-scroll feature
5. Places - the current state
6. Places - with the missing stuff - to compare http://tinyurl.com/3b44jd
and
many, many thanks to Colin Barrett. Without his hard work over
some months to find and build a Unified Toolbar solution would it be impossible
to create a good theme which fit well in Mac 10.4 and 10.5 and least of all
would fit well in both systems.
and
the upcoming unified toolbar patch (it is Mac only) makes it possible to use every color for the title-bar a theme want - a huge improvement which makes complete different themes possible - i build likely a complete blue theme later.
and
by the way the next Mac default theme will looks similar - here are some Mock-Ups
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397723
Cheers

Eyecandy
Delicious food for eyes.
Firefox browsing experience will be a lot more pleasing..
You got the style Arronax.
Bad thing is it will never come to PC...
Gratz for releasing such a masterpiece. It will become legend someday.

Hi,
a short theme info update
Colin Barrett added the Unified Toolbar patch today
http://iamthewalr.us/blog/2007/10/30/un ... r-firefox/
many, many thanks at Colin for his hard work
my test theme looks currently:
and it will be released as soon some other bugs are fixed in the nighties
(the Add-ons Manager is for example broken in the Mac trunk)
maybe tomorrow - or ... - depends only on the bugs
Cheers

Hi, and now the theme
GrApple (Gran Paradiso Outlook) 0.8.4 - for an up to date nightly build
http://www.takebacktheweb.org/
by the way,
Kevin Gerich has created a stand-alone test theme - for the new Firefox Mac OS X default theme
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.c ... 97723#c105

they works, but not in the best possible kind of way on every OS
---
and it is the same reason why the Mac default theme does not work on Windows/Linux
and why they build now more "Visual Integration with the Platform" default themes
http://blog.mozilla.com/faaborg/2007/10 ... tegration/
---
and they would works only "in the best possible kind of way on every OS", when a themer had more possibilities
in particular new stuff like this is therefore needed :
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397073
---
and other FF 3.0 improvements like this:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379985
"Since we now have a real "Higlight" color that is changeable in system prefs,
we can get rid of the -moz-mac-alternateprimaryhighlight" stuff."
---
many different -moz-mac-.. code parts are in my themes - as long it will be necessary to receive the best possible result for a Mac theme only with -moz-mac-.. code will it be used - when it is not anymore needed, then ... works the themes as well on Windows/Linux - and this is not not unlikely with FF 3.0, but who knows

i tried the Apollo theme and it even much, much better then many others on a Mac - no real problem
beside some small design changes for a Mac you could only include some Mac specific code to improve it, but i have my doubt that you would be then happy with the side effect on Windows and Linux

Hi,
and ... a new version - GrApple (Gran Paradiso Outlook) 0.8.6 - for the FF 3.0b1
http://www.takebacktheweb.org/
some toolbar changes + changes in the preference window
by the way,
a Beta is normally more or less feature complete, but this FF 3.0b1 is far far away to be feature complete
the stuff from the first picture + some other changes will still come
for example: http://blog.mozilla.com/faaborg/2007/11 ... s-to-come/
Cheers

I get a problem with the toolbar for some reason. It's not unified like your screenshots. I'm on firefox 3b1 with the latest leopard 10.5.1. and GrApple (Gran Paradiso Outlook) 0.8.6.
Have you used GrApple (UNO) and the UNO app. http://gui.interacto.net/ before?
It has likely something to do with a userChrome.css file which the UNO app. installed.
Look in the ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxxx.default/chrome/
folder and remove the file.
